Crewe Cut The ‘Cash’

Crewe ran out 5-2 winners in the local derby against derby rivals Ballymacash Rangers at Crewe Park.

Crewe started the brighter of the two sides and began to dominate play after the early exchanges. The first goal did not come until the 25th minute however when Micky Tohill coolly rounded of a superb move with a clinical finish. The next two Crewe goals followed in quick succession as Crewe stunned the visitors. Scotty Mulligan rounded the goalkeeper for the second after good work on the right from Coughlan and Conor McQuillan executed a delightful lob with some superb control after being put through by Thomas McKenna.

Gerard Duff in the Crewe goal was a spectator for much of the half but pulled off a smart save down to his left when called upon.

Half time: 3-0

Ballymacash came out in the second half with all guns blazing. The scored their first after 50 minutes with a low shot into the bottom corner that beat Duff in the Crewe goal. The visitors scored again just 5 minutes later to make it 3-2 as Crewe looked uncertain and nervous at the back. Despite the set backs Crewe once again began to push forward and the game was sealed when Crewe forced an own goal after good work again from Coughlan.Micky Tohill grabbed his second of the game after a fine counter attack and a Ballymacash own goal to finish the scoring as Crewe ran our comfortable winners in the end.

Overall it was a good performance from Crewe with Chris Heggarty pulling the strings in Midfield and Dennis Boyle making his first appearance at centre half for the firsts.
