Portadown BBOB 0 Crewe United 3

Crewe got back to winning ways with a comfortable three nil victory in Portadown. With several players out injured and suspended it was a vital win. In the early exchanges Portadown had much of the play but lacked any real threat up front.

The deadlock was broken after 25 minutes when Scotty Mulligan fired in a volley from 12 yards after good work from the recalled Paul Coughlan. Soon after Glenn McKeown added the second after good work from Mulligan down the left to pick out McKeowns run who coolly flicked the ball over the keeper and into the home net.

Half-time: 0-2

The second have provided little in the way of incident. The Crewe rear guard were rarely troubled and indeed a deserved third was added from resigned Gerrard Lynas who came off the bench to score on his return.

A good performance from Crewe and good preparation for sterner tests to come this month.
