Broomhedge 0 Crewe United 7

Crewe swept aside Broomhedge in the local derby on Saturday. Crewe started the brighter and took the lead on ten minutes when Mark Mulholland struck the ball into the top corner after the home keeper parried a shot from Lynas into his path. It was two shortly after when McKenna rolled a free kick to Mulligan who stuck a shot which the keeper fumbled into the home net.

Broomhedge steadied the ship and began to play better football as the half progressed and went close with a header that went just wide after two successive corners had been delivered into the Crewe box.

Half-time: 0-2

The second half started as the first with the visitors scoring through Pete McCabe. A gap opened up for McCabe and he sent a vicious shot soaring past the stranded Broomhedge keeper. A fourth was added from Mulholland after good work from Paul Coughlan down the right and the hat trick was completed shortly after with a tap in on the line.

Seamy Seaton came off the bench and after a mazy run he fired home into the top corner. Pete McCabe finished off the rout with a superb flick and half volley which sparked wild celebrations from McCabe.

Overall a good performance which will need to be carried into next weeks quarter final at Crewe Park against Oxford United.

Full time: 0-7

Goals: M. Mulholland (3), S. Mulligan, P. McCabe (2), S. Seaton
