Crewe United 5 Fivemiletown United 3

Crewe united progressed to the quarter finals of the Marshall Cup under the Crewe Park floodlights last Thursday night with a fine win over Fivemiletown.

The home team rocked the visitors scoring three goals inside the first twenty minutes. Crewe opened the scoring through Pete McCabe with a thunderbolt from twenty five yards.

Aidso McCrory added a second as he cut inside from the right and fired home although the opposing keeper should have done better.

Paul Coughlan slotted home the third shortly after when he was gifted the ball through a mishap with the Fivemiletown defence.

Half-time: 3-0

Crewe anticipated pressure from Fivemiletown in the second period as they had the strong wind behind them.

It was Crewe however who added a fourth on the hour mark when McKenna powered in a free kick from the right and had a slightly delayed celebration!

Fivemiletown piled on the pressure until they scored their first after a mistake by Mark McKeown in the Crewe goal with ten minutes remaining.

Two quick fire goals from the visitors set up a grandstand finish but Crewe killed the comeback when Mulholland struck Crewes fifth in the dying seconds.

Full time: 5-3

Goals: P. McCabe, A.McCrory, P Coughlan, T. McKenna, M. Mulholland
