Pre Season Win For Crewe

Crewe United got off to a good start in their build up to new season with a 2-0 victory over Lurgan United under new manager Thomas McKenna.

Crewe took ten minutes to settle down before they began to pass the ball as they can. New signing Nicky Maye looked impressive and commanding at the back while Mike Kelly continued his form upfront with a fine display leading the line.

The scoring opened after good work from Mike Kelly and Paul Coughlan nipped in to open his account for the new season. Kelly was again involved in the build up to the second and a good cross was nodded in by Marty McCartney at the back post.

Half time: 0-2

Crewe opened the second half dominating and should have added more goals. Another new signing Guy Boyd made his first appearance in a Crewe shirt. Last years top scorer Mickey Tohill was unlucky not to score his first of the new campaign and Crewe should have pressed home their dominance in possession.

Overall a satisfying performance and is a good platform to build on as tougher games await during the pre season schedule.

Team: Duff, Patterson, Maye, Haggerty, Bingham, Coughlan, Lavery, McCartney, McManus, Kelly, Chisambo. Subs: Tohill, Boyd, Black, McCrory
