Crewe Go To Town

Crewe got back to winning ways with a 3-1 home victory against Fivemiletown United. Conor McQuillan scored two, coming back from injury with Paul Coughlin rounding off the scoring.

Crewe welcomed back Conor McQuillan and Scott Bingham from injury as they tried to bounce back from the painful defeat against Laurelvale on Saturday. The Glenavy men opened with fierce tempo which the visitors could not cope with and on 4 minutes Conor McQuillan opened the scoring after ploughing his way through the Fivemiletown back line. It was two nil soon after when McQuillan again produced a fine finish as Crewe piled on the pressure. Crewe should have been out of sight but the visiting keeper produced two superb saves with his legs.

Fivemiletown however came more into the game as the half progressed but never threatened Colm McAuley in the Crewe goal.

Half time: 2-0

Fivemiletown came out fighting in the second half and after a goal mouth scramble from a corner the ball was rifled into the Crewe goal. Things got worse for Crewe minutes later after Paul ‘Cub’ McCullough was dismissed after an altercation with a defender.

Down to ten men Crewe had to defend well and they did so. Crewe Captain Bingham hit the woodwork with Conor McCarthy also hitting the post and crossbar from free kicks. Coughlin however sealed the points after a fine flick from McQuillan he slotted the ball into the far corner from the endge of the box.

A good performance from Crewe who added the finishing display that was lacking against Laurelvale at the weekend.
