Crewe United Legends won an entertaining 6-4 game on Saturday 30th April as the club raised over £2,000 for the Carers Fourm On Learning Disability, the nominated charity of Lisburn Mayor Paul Porter.
The Mayor of Lisburn, Alderman Paul Porter recently attended a charity football match at Crewe United’s football grounds.
£2,000 was raised at the match between Crewe United Legends and Ex Irish League XI for the Mayor’s Charity, the ‘Carers Forum on Learning Disability’.
Alderman Paul Porter, speaking about the match, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Crewe United for hosting a charity match for this worthwhile charity, which provides a voice for people with a range of learning disabilities and also their families and carers.
“It was great to see Crewe United Legends win by 6 goals to 4 on the day and in the Club’s 50th Anniversary Year. There was also a reception hosted in the club house following the game and I hope that all those who attended had an enjoyable evening.”
Lisburn City Council has worked closely with Crewe United on many initiatives over the years including the ‘Challenge Peace Cup’, which is played between Crewe United and Warrington Town and the launch of the Club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Alderman Porter added: “May I also take this opportunity to congratulate all the sponsors who have been associated with the Club through the years.”
The club also had a relay team in the Belfast Marathon and came in with a time of 4 hours and 9 mins. Well done to all those involved and money raised also went to the Mayors charity.
