Crewe United will kick off the 2011/12 season at home in the Steel & Sons Cup to current holders H&W Welders on Saturday 13th August. It is certain to be a tough test for the Glenavy men and a challenge they will have to rise to.
The last time Crewe hosted the Welders was 3 years ago in the Irish Cup when a last minute penalty gave the Belfast men the victory. The Welders have certainly progressed since then and are a forced to be reckoned with in the IFA Championship 1.
They lifted the Steel & Sons for the first time in their history last season with a 3-1 victory over Knockbreda in the final at Seaview on Christmas morning.
