Lisburn City Council has worked closely with Crewe United on many initiatives over the years and is very pleased that they have signed a new international player that is attracting much attention.

Crewe United has gone continental and signed Monsieur Loic Bouchard who currently resides in Nice, France. Councillor Thomas Beckett and Mr Tom McKenna greeted Loic when he recently arrived at Belfast International Airport.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, speaking about Crewe United, said: “It is great news that Crewe United has attracted the interest of a young overseas player and subsequently signed him up to play for the team in upcoming important games.

“Though it is no surprise that the interest in Crewe United has extended outside of Northern Ireland; as over the past 50 years it has invested in the development of the grounds and today Crewe Park is the envy of many more senior clubs.”

Loic has been on the youth team books of AS Monaco and AS Cannes playing predominantly as a midfielder and he hopes to make an impression following his arrival.

Mr Tom McKenna, Chairman of Crewe United, said: “Loic has already signed forms and it is hoped that international clearance will be through to make his debut on the 22nd October. I spotted Loic and after chatting with him he was very impressed with the set-up and it is fantastic that he is joining our club. He will arrive in time for our formal on 15th October and he hopes that Crewe will be a stepping stone for a career with an English League team.”

Councillor Thomas Beckett added: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish Loic well during his time at Crewe United and I hope that he is able to play his part in the team’s upcoming games such as the top of the table clash against Camlough Rovers, the Premier Cup semi-final and the Intermediate Cup.”
