It is now official, the famous Crewe Park slope is to be removed forever this summer as the club received confirmation that they were successful in their grant applications. The club will receive funds to construct a completely new sand based pitch which will be completely level and see a new drainage system being built also.
Work will begin in the next two weeks with Cecil Haffey acting as the main contractor. The old pitch will be ploughed and bull dozers brought in to remove the last traces of the farmers field which the pitch began its life as.With the grant award the club hope to continue to use Crewe Park as a neutral and friendly environment for sport and continue the extensive cross community and charity work they are involved in. It will also serve to compliment the existing facilities at the club and re-establish the clubs facilities as the best in Intermediate football.
It is expected that the new pitch will be ready in September and an official opening by a major team will undoubtedly be on the agenda.
